Kamares harbour lies in Ormos Kamari Bay on the southern peak of Kos and is mainly occupied by local boats. Especially the inner harbour is obstructed by fishing boats. Boats moor at the outer end of the mole at a water depth of up to 6 m or they anchor in the bay. The sandy seabed, overgrown with seaweed, provides a good hold. The harbour is sheltered, but when the Meltemi blows, there are downbursts in the bay, but they do not last long and are not strong. Water is available at the foot of the mole. A tavern serves delicious dishes. It will take 15 minutes on foot to get to Kefalos where various taverns and shopping amenities can be found.
