Vlychada is the only port suitable for yachts. However, the double horseshoe-shape can only berth a few yachts. Most spaces are occupied by charter yachts and local boats.
The approach to Vlychada Port is difficult as the remains of the old breakwater are now below the waterline and reefs make the entry more challenging.
The port entrance fills up easily with sand and a dredge in the navigation channel ensures that the water depth remains constant at 2-3 m. However, it has been reported that the water at the entrance is only 1.6 m deep. This can be ascribed to water-level fluctuations of up to 0.5 m.
The water is 2.2-3 m deep within the harbour. Even when the harbour is overcrowded, the harbour master will still try to accept yachts and moor them side by side.
There are a few restaurants and shopping amenities around the port. A bus takes about 45 minutes to get to the main town, a taxi will take approx. half an hour.
